Mr. P. Swayz
Born of Haitian-descent, the New York City native harnessed his love for Hip Hop during the culture's "Golden Age" (a period of the genre characterized by its diversity, quality, innovation and influence). While living in Brooklyn, The Notorious B.I.G. served as an inspiration to Swayz, proving that local emcees could achieve musical success despite the conditions from which they came. Amongst others, artists like Nas, The Fugees, Wu-Tang, Outkast, & Tupac Shakur were highly influential, and their impact can be reflected in Swayz's content, skillful lyricism, and genuine artistry.
Preserving the culture's integrity is a top priority to P. Swayz, and serves as a form of paying homage to those who have paved the way. Song's like "Say Grace" (produced by ASCAP award-winning producer Mr. Fingaz) where P. masterfully incorporates some of Hip Hop's pioneers into a playful prayer, calls for unity and appreciation amongst artists while serving as a musical treat to its listeners. "The Taste Test, Vol. 1" executed in showcasing his creativity, versatile-style, and ability to cater to a wide-range audience...all while staying true to the art form - an attribute many artists struggle to successfully achieve.
